Idrissa Gueye - Everton

Everton's Marco Silva unsurprised by Gueye's performance in Southampton win

Everton manager Marco Silva has reserved praise for Idrissa Gueye following his 'amazing' performance in their 2-1 win over Southampton.

Two first-half goals from The Walcott and Richarlison were enough for the hosts to see off Mark Hughes' charges despite Danny Ings' consolatory goal in the 54th minute at Goodison Park.

Gueye was dominant in the Toffees' midfield as his team clinched their first maximum points in the 2018-19 season.

When quizzed about the 28-year-old's display, Silva, per Liverpool Echosaid: "Amazing. Like he did in the last game as well.

"But for me, this is not a surprise because what he did this afternoon, what he did last week, it is what he always does and during the week he plays like he trains everyday and he works everyday like he plays. For me, his performance was no surprise.”

Gueye has played every minute of the Toffees' games this season and will hope to get a starting spot when they visit Bournemouth next Saturday.
