The highly rated centre-back, 19, is reportedly the subject of overtures from the Premier League club, with Roma and Lille also keen

Teenage Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth has responded to claims he is set to join Tottenham, but admits he is unaware of any planned talks.

Foyth, 19, was a member of the Argentina squad for their unsuccessful tilt at the Under-20 World Cup, and has also carved out a place in the Estudiantes team that clinched a Copa Libertadores spot in 2017 under ex-Arsenal player Nelson Vivas, who subsequently resigned his post.

The centre-back has been linked with a host of European clubs, including Spurs, Roma and Zenit St. Petersburg, and though he would be open to moving to Europe, he does not know if Pincha president Juan Sebastian Veron has discussed his future with any clubs.

"I like competitive leagues more than anything. I always watch the Italian, English, Spanish leagues. The leagues that they normally show on TV here in Argentina.," he told Radio Continental

On the Tottenham reports he added: "I read this on social media. Something about my agent or Veron had traveled there. I don’t really know what they said.

"I haven’t heard anything about that. I will try to speak with my agent when there’s something more concrete.

"I have never spoken with [Mauricio] Pochettino or with any person from Tottenham."

Foyth also revealed that he would not be joining compatriots Leandro Paredes and Sebastian Driussi in moving to Zenit.

"My agent never told me that an offer had arrived from Zenit. I would not go to Russia right now.

"If I do go it is not because I want to, but rather to help the club out economically."
