Cedric Bakambu awaits agreement between Villarreal and Beijing Guoan

Cedric Bakambu disclosed that he is yet to sign for Beijing Guoan yet as he waits on Villarreal and the Chinese Super League outfit to finalise transfer agreement.

Though Villarreal manager Javier Calleja confirmed that Roger Schmidt’s side have met the DR Congo international’s €40 million release clause earlier this month, the forward stated that his transfer is on hold pending the agreement between the two clubs.

Bakambu who has garnered 14 goals in 21 games across all competitions for the Yellow Submarine this season admitted that circumstances including 'a bit' of financial situations spurred his decision to consider joining the Workers' Stadium outfit.

"I'm between the two clubs [Villarreal and Beijing], but today I'm still a Villarreal player. I'm just waiting for an agreement between the two clubs. That's what makes me wait. I do not know when it will end,” Bakambu told Canal+.

“My salary? The 8th best in the world? I read what is said, but I don't know.

“I inquired about this club [before said yes to them], like any new club that I join. There is Renato Augusto and Soriano. I was told it was a very polluted city.

“At first, I was really not hot [motivated] to go there. But circumstances made me have to make other decisions. Financial circumstances? Yes, there is a bit of that.”
