El-Mhanni training with Brentford after leaving Newcastle

Former Newcastle winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is training with Brentford as they weigh up a move late in the transfer window.

The 22-year-old lined up for the Bees in a friendly win over Bournemouth on Tuesday and is hoping to impress for the Championship outfit as he looks to earn a contract.

Football League clubs have until Friday to sign unattached players, and with free agent El-Mhanni having grown up close to Griffin Park he remains hopeful of securing a move closer to his boyhood home.

Newcastle released the wideman after he filed a grievance against Peter Beardsley, the Magpies' Under-23 coach, though the club did rule in the player's favour via an independent panel after complaints of unfair treatment after complaints of racism and bullying.

El-Mhanni played twice for Newcastle in his spell at the club and previously had trials at Chelsea, West Brom and Queen's Park Rangers before signing up on Tyneside.
