England have been installed as a 12/1 (13.0) shot to win the inaugural UEFA Nations League.
Gareth Southgate’s men are in League A and will face tournament favourites Spain, who are 7/2 (4.50) with bet365 to go all the way, and 20/1 (21.0) underdogs Croatia in Group Four.
What is the Nations League?
The Nations League consists of four separate divisions, with the top teams in Europe starting in League A and the lowest-ranked teams in League D.
Each League is split into groups, with each side playing home and away against the others in their group.
The four group winners in League A will go into the Nations League Finals, which features two semi-finals and a final in June 2019.
Nations League Favourites
After receiving arguably the most favourable draw, Spain are slight 7/2 (4.50) favourites to lift the trophy next year.
World champions Germany can be backed at 4/1 (5.0), although their group also has third-favourites France – available at 5/1 (6.0) – and 50/1 (51.0) rank outsiders Netherlands who have had plenty of problems on the international scene in recent years.
Belgium are good value at 11/2 (6.50), considering they will play 33/1 (34.0) chance Switzerland and Iceland, who are 80/1 (81.0).
What about Euro 2020 Qualifying?
Teams who perform well in the Nations League stand a better chance at qualifying for Euro 2020.
Those who fail to qualify for Euro 2020 but win their Nations League group will play a play-off against another group winner from their League.
