'Bayern can have Alexis if they give Arsenal Lewandowski!' - Wright airs ambitious transfer plan

The Gunners' Chilean forward continues to be linked with a summer exit at the Emirates, but a former striker is looking for a high-profile addition

Ian Wright has told Bayern Munich that they can have Alexis Sanchez this summer if they offer Robert Lewandowski to Arsenal in a trade.

The Gunners continue to see their 30-goal leading scorer from the 2016-17 campaign linked with a big-money elsewhere.

With Sanchez entering the final 12 months of his current contract, Arsenal know they must thrash out fresh terms or cash-in on a saleable asset.

Wright is aware that a deal may have to be done, but he has cheekily suggested that a ready-made replacement should be drafted in as part of the agreement if talks are opened with Bayern.

While Sanchez managed 30 goals for the first time in his career in the season just gone, Lewandowski has made a habit of hitting that mark.

He has passed that tally in four of his last six campaigns, with 40-plus managed in the last two.

Sanchez: Future in agent's hands

Bayern’s top marksman plundered a personal best 43 goals across all competitions in 2016-17 and now has 110 in just 147 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.

He is one of the finest frontmen in world football and Arsenal are likely to have to look elsewhere for a successor to Sanchez if a sale is sanctioned when the transfer window re-opens.

Maybe they should be looking a little closer to home, with Wright offering an alternative to Lewandowski currently on the books of a Premier League rival.

Diego Costa is another expected to be on the move this summer after being informed that he no longer figures in Antonio Conte’s plans.

He netted 20 times as Chelsea recaptured the Premier League title, but has seen his future called into question for some time and is now being nudged towards the exits.
