Horn: Modeste is better than Lewandowski and Aubameyang

Star Cologne striker Anthony Modeste is better than Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to starstruck goalkeeper Timo Horn.

Modeste, 28, is enjoying a spectacular season in the Bundesliga, having smashed 22 goals so far to fire his side to a challenge for Europa League qualification.

And that form has not gone unnoticed, with the young shot-stopper putting him above the Bayern Munich and Dortmund superstars.

"What Anthony is doing now is comfortably better than his rivals," Horn told reporters at the weekend after a Modeste hat-trick helped down Hertha Berlin.

"Lewandowski has six or seven chances served on a silver platter every match. But Tony has to make things happen.

"That is why he is higher in my estimation."

Cologne coach Peter Stoger, on the other hand, tried to deflect attention from his sharpshooter.

"For me, he is just another player," the Austrian explained.

"Everyone has their job on the field, his is to score goals, and right now he is doing so."

Modeste's 22 goals trail Aubameyang by one at the top of the Bundesliga's scorer rankings, with Lewandowski in third with 21.
