According to a report in Record, reigning Portuguese champions Benfica are closely monitoring the situation of promising young defender Jose Luis Palomino, currently under contract with Argentinian side San Lorenzo.
The Lisbon powerhouse are in the market for a new defender because of the expected departure of David Luiz and head coach Jorge Jesus considers Palomino to be the perfect replacement.
Palomino is a product of the San Lorenzo youth academy and made his debut for the Azulgrana in 2010 and is seen as one of the best young defenders in Argentina.
The 21-year-old has an ongoing contract with San Lorenzo and an offer of €5 million could be needed to lure him away from his current club.
Benfica are not the only club that are after the defender, as they face stiff competition from arch-rivals Porto in the race for Palomino's services.
