Carlos Queiroz In Hot Water With Portuguese Football Federation
National team coach faces allegations of insulting anti-doping authority
By Gareth Lovell
The incident in question occurred in May at a training camp where the national team were beginning their preparations for the World Cup finals in South Africa.
Queiroz was reportedly angered at the constant testing of members of his squad and allegedly hurled abuse at the anti-doping committee and in particular president Luis Horta.
Secretary of State Laurentino Dias told Radio Renascenca: "The matter is with the Federation to be evaluated.'' He continued: "The facts that were established in the investigation oblige the federation to study them.
"If they were not serious facts there would not have been any investigation, or it would have been archived.''
Queiroz has been in charge of Portugal since 2008 and led them to the World Cup in South Africa, where they lost out to eventual winners Spain at the last-16 stage.
This, however, is not the first time Queiroz has been in hot water since leaving Manchester United to coach the national team. In February this year he was involved in a physical altercation with a Portuguese journalist, while there were reports of a World Cup spat with midfield star Deco.
The sending home of Nani through injury was also badly explained, while Portugal - and in particular star man Cristiano Ronaldo - misfired in South Africa.
Queiroz has a contract until after the European Championships in two years' time, but reports suggest the Federation could use this latest incident as a way to dismiss the 57-year-old.
