By Stefan Coerts
Benfica are looking to add some more depth to their squad this summer in order to be competitive at Champions League level and head coach Jorge Jesus reportedly considers the versatile Tiene to be a valuable addition to his team.
The 28-year-old left back joined Valenciennes from Saint Etienne in the summer of 2008 and has since developed into a key player at the French outfit. Tiene also impressed at the World Cup and his strong performances in 2010 haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere.
Benfica reportedly face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Tiene's signature.
Valenciennes have supposedly set a €2 million asking price for the defender-cum-midfielder.
