Additionally, Cruzeiro have acquired 75 per cent of the rights on Argentinian attacker Sergio Farias. Farias was surplus to requirements at Porto and was therefore allowed to leave.
Porto are struggling to keep up with Braga and Benfica in the Liga Sagres this season and sit only third in the league table at the moment, trailing the joint table toppers by six points after 16 games played.
Therefore, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira was determined to strengthen his squad during the winter transfer window. They previously signed Ruben Micael and have now also secured the services of the 26-year-old Kleber, full name Kleber Giacomance de Souza Freitas.
The highly rated attacker previously played in Europe at Dynamo Kiev, but returned to Brazil at the beginning of 2009. Kleber impressed at Cruzeiro this season and earned himself a move back to Europe with his good performances.
