Liga Sagres table toppers Benfica are closely monitoring highly rated Manchester City attacker Robinho, according to a report in Portuguese nespaper A Bola.

The Portuguese titans are in the market for a new winger due to the ongoing uncertainty about the future of Argentinian youngster Angel di Maria, who is continually being linked with a move to the Premier League, and Benfica reportedly see Robinho as the perfect replacement.

The 26-year-old attacker joined City from Real Madrid in the summer of 2008 and made a brilliant start to life with the Citizens. However, Robinho has lost his spot in the starting XI this term and is therefore eager to move on.

The tricky attacker was previously linked with Barcelona, but the European champions have made it clear that they are no longer interested in signing Robinho.

Santos are also believed to be keeping tabs on their former prodigy, but Benfica are eager to lure Robinho to Portugal instead.
