Greek Super League: Atromitos - PAOK / Conceicao (INTIME)
Former Portugal international Sergio Conceicao has made the decision to end his playing career with immediate effect after a string of injuries prevented him from making an impact at Greece's PAOK.

The 35-year-old joined PAOK in January last year in a surprise move and was made captain in his first full season for the Thessaloniki club. However, Conceicao has struggled with knee injuries this season.

"This is one of the most difficult days of my career because it signals the end of my playing days," Conceicao said at a press conference. "I am satisfied though because I achieved many things and if I measure the good times against the bad, there were far more good moments."

Conceicao was capped 56 times by Portugal and his club career featured spells at Porto, Inter, Lazio, Parma and Standard Liege.

The former attacking midfielder did not need too long to find himself a new job. PAOK have named Conceicao as the club's new technical director.
