Former Valencia Star Pablo Aimar: I Will Not Leave Benfica For Lazio

The Argentine playmaker is happy playing in Portugal and has no intention of making a switch to Rome. Indeed, he asserts the rumours over his future are simply paper-talk with no foundation...

Pablo Aimar - Argentina (Grazia Neri)
Benfica midfielder Pablo Aimar has dismissed rumours that he is on the verge of joining Serie A side Lazio, claiming he is enjoying his football in Lisbon.

"I want to stay here for a long time - my soul and body is as a Benfica player," he revealed to Benfica TV.

"I will stay 100 per cent. I feel too good here to change teams.

"The newspapers have written the opposite of the reality - no club has ever contacted me. I have not accepted any proposals."

The 29-year-old's form recently saw him recalled to the Argentina national side. He joined Benfica in the summer of 2008 after a mediocre spell with Real Zaragoza.
