Official: Benfica Midfielder Freddy Adu Loaned Out To Belenenses
The American ace will ply his trade at the Restelo this season...
Belenenses have completed the loan signing of SL Benfica winger Freddy Adu, the Eagles have confirmed on their official website.Adu signed for Benfica in the summer of 2007 for a fee in the region of €1.5 million and found himself on the fringes of the action at the Estadio da Luz in his first season in Europe.
He was loaned out to Monaco last season, but failed to make his mark in France and the principality outfit decided against making the move permanent.
After weeks of speculation concerning his future, with reports indicating that Adu had suitors in Sweden and Holland, the US international has been confirmed as a loanee at Belenenses, who were saved from relegation last season following Estrela da Amadora's financial problems.
Adu could make his debut for Belenenses on Sunday, curiously against Benfica.
