Benfica are drawing up a list of potential attacking reinforcements for next season after being rebuffed in their efforts to sign Radamel Falcao from River Plate, and it seems that Rodrigo Palacio tops their list.

According to news daily Record, Benfica coach Jorge Jesus is an admirer of the qualities of Palacio, who joined Boca Juniors in 2005, and is prepared to make use of his transfer kitty to sign the 27-year-old.

The Argentina international has been linked with a summer move due to his club's financial problems, with Espanyol mooted as an interested party.

The Portuguese paper claims that Boca are willing to do business for Palacio, who has one year left on his contract. However, they were unimpressed with Benfica's first offer of €2.5 million.

Sport Club do Recife's Weldon and Gustavo Denis from Napoli have also been suggested as players Benfica are considering making moves for.
