The Paris Saint-Germain coach is aware that the Uruguayan is playing out of position but insists that he is merely trying to find the right balance in his XI

Laurent Blanc has defended his tactics after Edinson Cavani played out of position once again for Paris Saint-Germain in their 1-1 draw with Monaco.

The Uruguayan has scored three times in all competitions since his move to Paris in the summer but has rarely been deployed in his favoured central position this season.

However, Blanc says he is merely eager to find the right balance in his team, with Sunday's scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing as the lone strike.

“I think he’d like to be more up front,” the PSG coach told reporters when asked about Cavani after the game.

“But I have to think about the balance of the team. That comes ahead of the players’ desires.”

Blanc admitted he was a little disappointed with the result but insists that the home team were the better side on the evening and were unlucky not to come up with all three points.

“It was a good game even though we regret not having won.

“In the second half we dominated even without Thiago Silva. In this match we deserved to win.

“We had more chances than Monaco. The two teams played to win and that’s worth nothing.”

The draw means that both sides remain unbeaten this season, with Monaco holding a two-point advantage over Blanc's side at the top of Ligue 1.
