The Olympique Lyonnais coach is delighted after his side secured a top-three finish in Ligue 1 and a return to Europe's top competitionOlympique Lyonnais coach Remi Garde says "there is nothing better" than the Champions League after his side secured a place in next season's edition of the competition.
The Stade Gerland side will return to Europe's top club tournament after a one-year absence following their 2-0 win over Stade Rennais on Sunday, which sealed a top-three finish in Ligue 1.
And the former Arsenal midfielder has admitted that playing in the qualifying rounds will affect his planning for 2013-14 but is delighted to with his side's end to the season nonetheless.
"It's satisfying, reaching that target was not obvious," the 47-year-old coach told Uefa.com.
"The job is done after a tough season. We managed to bounce back on several occasions, in particular after enduring a series of three losses [in late March and early April].
"It's one more round. We'll do fewer warm-up games. We'll do everything to be ready and get back in the group stage. From a sporting point of view, there is nothing better.
"Congratulations to the players. Few tipped us to make the podium, the players proved the critics wrong."
