'I miss the Premier League' - Barton keen on return to England folllowing Marseille loan

The loanee thanks his temporary club for giving him a chance to prove himself and is now looking for a return home, though he does not see himself at QPR next season

Joey Barton has thanked Marseille for putting their faith in him but admits that he is keen on a return to the Premier League following the conclusion of his season-long loan spell.

The midfielder left England with a 12-game ban hanging over his head following an attempted headbutt on Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany on the final day of last season.

And, while he is loving life in Ligue 1, Barton - who still has two years to run on his QPR deal - does miss England's top flight.

"I cannot see me playing again at QPR," the midfielder told reporters.

"Marseille had faith in me when no-one had faith any more, so I want to pay them back for that. At the right moment we will talk. But I miss the Premier League."

Marseille travel to Parc des Princes to face rivals Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, with the top-of-the-table clash likely to feature David Beckham’s debut for Les Parisiens.
