Ancelotti: Ligue 1 has a lot of speed and intensity
The Paris Saint-Germain coach has suggested that attacking talent is not enough after his side's shock defeat to Sochaux as he turns his attention towards Marseille
Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti says he was not surprised by Sunday’s defeat to Sochaux and has emphasised the difficulty of playing in Ligue 1 ahead of his side’s match against Marseille.
Despite the loss, Ancelotti's side remain top of Ligue 1, three points clear of Lyon, but the PSG coach admitted maintaining their form was tough.
“The French championship is special, there is a lot of rhythm, speed and intensity. It is not always easy,” the 53-year-old Italian told Ma Chaine Sport.
“In Ligue 1, talent is not enough. The defensive work is the most difficult thing for Pastore, Lavezzi and Lucas."
Ancelotti’s focus is now on the upcoming Ligue 1 and Coupe de France fixtures against Marseille, who currently lie third in the table.“Marseille are a beefy team who use many crosses,” he said, adding: “They are aggressive and have benefited from their mental strength.”
