Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways in Ligue 1 with a comfortable 4-0 triumph over Evian at the Parc des Princes.
Les Roses had clearly come with a pragmatic approach in mind but it failed to pay dividends as PSG scored two goals in three first-half minutes, one from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the other courtesy of Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Pascal Dupraz's side gave a better account of themselve after the break but goals from Thiago Motta and Kevin Gameiro ensured les Parisiens took all three points.
Evian immediately set out to frustrate their opponents, placing a bank of players in defence when not in possession. It limited the space for PSG but also meant they enjoyed the vast majority of possession.
Yet their numbers were unable to contain Ibrahimovic who went close twice in the opening 20 minutes. The first chance was a clever flick from Javier Pastore's pass the dropped narrowly wide, the second a header free volley that really ought to have nestled in the back of the net.
It proved just to be a sign of things to come though and in the 28th minute Ibrahimovic supplied the breakthrough. Pastore, who had been pulling all the strings, set Jallet on his way to the byeline with an exquisite flick and the full-backs cross was slid home by the Swede.
Three minutes later the advantage was doubled as the former AC Milan striker used his strength to hold off two defenders and control a long pass from Menez on his chest. Lavezzi picked up the ball and showed great composure to take a touch and pick place his shot in off the post.
Some truly sumptuous football around the edge of the area involving Jeremy Menez, Pastore and Lavezzi created a chance for the Argentine to net his second of the night. However, he sent a header from his compatriot's cross straight down the middle of the goal and Laquait tipped it over.
There were two changes for les Roses at half time and that seemed to improve things for them. The ball was no longer completely retained by PSG and a higher line stopped them from threading too many passes together.
But the hosts still proved deadly on the break, particularly in the 65th minute when Lavezzi released Pastore down the right. His cross found Ibrahimovic in the middle but he was denied as an awful connection saw the ball loop up off his shin and come back off the post.
Although Evian had improved after the restart les Parisiens still dominated and after Motta slotted home from Pastore's cross in the 84th minute, Gameiro added the gloss to the scoreline two minutes later as he tapped following some superb interplay between Ibrahimovic and Menez.
Victory sends PSG up to second in the table on goal difference, while Evian could fall into the relegation zone this weekend should results go against them.
