Round 6 Results

League Table

MONTPELLIER
1 1 SAINT-ETIENNE
Montpellier's poor league form continued after they were held to a 1-1 draw by a determined Saint-Etienne side on Friday evening.

The hosts were predictably over-run in the first-half, with just three days passing since their 2-1 Champions League defeat to Arsenal, though les Verts failed to take advantage.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capped off a strong start to hit the post in the 43rd minute, but converted at the second attempt thanks to a cross from Max Gradel just before the interval.

Rene Girard's men were a much better side after the break, and it showed when Souleymane Camara latched onto a pass from Remy Cabella and finish past Stephane Ruffier.

Emanuel Herrera had a goal ruled out late in second half injury-time, as the champions fall further down the Ligue 1 table.

FC LORIENT
1 1 OGC NICE
FC Lorient's strong start to the season continued, but they will have been disappointed to have only come away with a 1-1 draw at home to Nice.

Despite a strong start by Christian Gourcuff's side, it would be the visitors who would snatch a first-half lead, as Camel Meriem struck in the 40th minute against the run of play.

Lorient were once again disadvantaged by a red card, this time Gregory Bourillon being shown a straight red card for the second time in only six games.

However, the improvement of the side which narrowly escaped relegation last season showed, as Kevin Monnet-Paquet scored a minute before time to equalise and steal a point.

SOCHAUX
3 1 ESTAC TROYES
Sochaux secured their second consecutive win to move out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 victory over Troyes on Saturday.

Sebastien Roudet put the hosts ahead before Julien Faussurier equalised for the bottom-placed side just after the half-hour mark.

Thierry Doubai nudged les Lionceaux ahead once more, though Jean-Christophe Bahebeck's straight red card two minutes later jeopardised his side's chances.

10-man Troyes failed to offer much of an attacking threat soon after, as Cedric Bakambu completed a 3-1 victory 20 minutes from time, to push the hosts further up the table.

STADE BREST
2 1 VALENCIENNES
Stade Brest secured their third win of the season with a hard-fought victory over 10-man Valenciennes on Saturday.

Daniel Sanchez's side started the brighter of the two, and it showed as Mathieu Dossevi swept in a 10th-minute opener, finishing low past Alexis Thebaux.

Kamel Chafni was an impressive threat for the hosts after that setback, bringing out a decent save from Nicolas Penneteau.

However, the goalkeeper was at fault for the equaliser, as Jonathan Ayite capitalised on a collision between Penneteau and Gil, and restored parity after the hour.

Gil later conceded a penalty, and was shown a red card for a foul on Eden Ben Basat, who then converted from the spot to hand the hosts victory.

TOULOUSE
2 2 STADE RENNAIS
Arguably the best match of the weekend - a 95th minute equaliser from goalkeeper Ali Ahamada secured Toulouse a fascinating 2-2 draw against under-performing Rennes at Stadium Municipal.

It was Frederic Antoinetti's side who took the lead after 10 minutes through Jonathan Pitroipa, who capitalised on some poor defending from the hosts.

The lead only lasted 14 minutes as Wissam Ben Yedder equalised, turning in from a pin-point Franck Tabanou cross.

Mevlut Erding led for a second time midway through the second-half, as Rennes looked to have finally claimed an away victory, but deep into injury-time, they would be pegged back again.

A free-kick was launched into the box, and Ahamada broke free of the last man to produce a wonderful diving header which flew past Benoit Costil and into the net.

STADE DE REIMS
2 0 NANCY
Stade de Reims' decent start to the season was maintained as they saw off the challenge of Nancy to secure a 2-0 win at Stade Auguste-Delane.

The hosts broke the deadlock after just seven minutes when Gael Courtet, a scorer in last week's shock 3-1 win over Montpellier, notched his second Ligue 1 goal of the season.

It would prove to be a drab affair from that point onwards, but Hubert Fournier's side were in the ascendancy for much of the second-half.

The killer goal arrived from the penalty spot, after Grzegorz Krychowiak was brought down inside the area. It was left for Diego to wrap up the win, sending Guy N'Dy Assembe the wrong way.
GIRONS DE BORDEAUX
2 2 AC AJACCIO
Bordeaux's unbeaten start to the season continued, but they were denied a win at the death by a resurgent Ajaccio side.

Les Girondins twice took the lead, firstly through Yann Gouffran, before Ricardo Faty fired in an equaliser for the visitors.

When Yann Gouffran directed in his side's second 12 minutes from time, it almost certainly looked like a winner for a Bordeaux side who were dominating throughout the second-half.

However, Chahir Belghazouani had other ideas, popping up at the death to prod home the equaliser past Cedric Carrasso and hand the Coriscan side a draw.

OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE
1 0 EVIAN
Marseille made it a wonderful six wins out of six, as they moved clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Fresh from recording an impressive 2-2 draw away to Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday, Elie Baup's side were aiming to better Bordeaux's record of five wins and a draw in 1998-99, under Baup.

Despite a slow start to proceedings at Stade Velodrome, the winning goal came just after the half-hour mark, as Morgan Amalfitano turned in the ball with a header following a delivery from Mathieu Valbuena.

Evian were dangerous after falling behind, but two brilliant saves from Steve Mandanda, coupled with pOOR finishing from Yannick Sagbo, earned Marseille the win that maintains their 100% record.

LOSC LILLE METROPOLE
1 1 OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS

Lille stretched their winless record to five games, after being held to a 1-1 draw against Olympique Lyonnais at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.

Rudi Garcia's men were fast out of the blocks, with the memory of the 3-1 defeat to BATE Borisov in the Champions League still burning in the mind, and they immediately raced into the lead.

Ryan Mendes' good work on the flank saw the young winger cross for Nolan Roux, who tapped in past Remy Vercoutre.

Lille were the better of the two sides in a dominant display, but lacked the finishing once again, as Vercoutre dealt with incoming shots.

Remi Garde's side improved in the second half, with Steed Malbranque bringing Landreau into a good save before Lyon finally found their equaliser.

With minutes remaining, Lisandro Lopez struck from distance, a powerful shot which beat the goalkeeper to earn a draw, though the visitors fell further behind Marseille in the Ligue 1 table.
