The Swede recently swapped AC Milan for Paris Saint-Germain, and the LFP president believes that every Ligue 1 club will benefit from his presenceZlatan Ibrahimovic signing for Paris Saint-Germain will be beneficial to football within France.
The Swede moved to Parc des Princes from AC Milan in a deal believed to be in the region of €23 million, joining former Rossoneri team-mate Thiago Silva at the club.
And Thiriez believes that the arrival of such iconic players will prove to be positive for the French game as a number of Ligue 1 clubs prepare for the new season in the USA, boosting their global profiles, culminating in Saturday's Trophee des Champions clash between Montpellier and Olympique Lyonnais.
"The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is rather good news for everyone. The fact that he appears on Saturday in Washington DC [for PSG's friendly against DC United] benefits French football," he told a press conference.
"In a week's time, French clubs will have played five games in North America including three organised by the League: Lyon's game in Montreal, that of Montpellier in Kansas City and the Trophee des Champions which is the icing on the cake. In addition there are two matches of PSG.
"The more French football is exposed and is exported, the happier I am."
Saturday's match sees Ligue 1 champions Montpellier take on Coupe de France winners Lyon at the Red Bull Arena with kick-off scheduled at 20:45CET.
