Paris Saint-Germain are a danger to world football, says Lorient coach Gourcuff

The father of midfielder Yoann has hit out at the capital club, claiming they are endangering the sport, and also praised the way the game is run in Germany

Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff has criticised Paris Saint-Germain's economic model, branding it "a danger to world football".

The 57-year-old tactician was clear in his disapproval at the way Les Parisiens have gone about acquiring players, while also praising the way German football has stayed competitive yet economically stable.

"This a big problem in world football," he told RMC Sport. "Clubs are now living through the provision of patrons.

"This is a danger to football. Paris [Saint-Germain] do not inject funds directly into French football. We have to talk about financial balance.

"The model [we must follow] is the German one, in both a sporting and economic sense."

Lorient finished the 2011-12 season in 17th place, just one point above relegation.

Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, were three points behind eventual winners Montpellier, but during the current transfer window have signed the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli and Thiago Silva from AC Milan.
