Montpellier president Nicollin denies Belhanda to Paris Saint-Germain talks

The owner of the Ligue 1 leaders has shrugged off reports of a possible transfer of his star prospect to rivals PSG in the forthcoming summer transfer window

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has rubbished that he is ready to sell playmaker Younes Belhanda, one of Ligue 1's foremost revelations this season, to wealthy rivals Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.

French newspaper L'Equipe suggested earlier on Friday that The Mois in talks with the Parc des Princes outfit over a possible transfer in the region of €15-€20 million, a move that the MHSC president quickly denied in typically vehement fashion.

"Where is it written that Belhanda is off to PSG?" he said to Eurosport. "He will stay another season, like Olivier Giroud, if we finish in the top two.

"What is clear, obvious and accurate is that Giroud, Belhanda and [centre-back Mapou] Yanga-Mbiwa are staying with us if we qualify for the Champions' League. If we end up third, Mapou and Giroud may leave."

Montpellier lead the Ligue 1 title race with three games to go this season, standing atop the rankings with three points more than PSG.

Rene Girard's side are well on their way to qualify for their first ever participation in the Champions League, confounding critics who had suggested that the best they would be capable of is a mid-table finish.
