Montpellier's Giroud: The pressure is on Paris Saint-Germain

The prolific hitman feels that the Ligue 1 leaders have shown throughout the season that they're serious contenders, and added that the pressure is on PSG

Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud has voiced his opinion that Paris Saint-Germain can not afford to spill any points in the upcoming Ligue 1 match against Lille if they are to keep their title dreams alive.

MHSC beat Toulouse 1-0 on Friday evening to go five points clear of PSG in the league table, and the France international is adamant that they have what it takes to win the league crown this term.

"We are five points clear again and that puts a bit of pressure on Paris Saint-Germain. We are hoping Lille can get a good result against PSG [on Sunday]," Giroud stated to the official Ligue 1 website.

"I don't know if we are the favourites, that is for the experts to say, but we have shown with our performances over the last few months that we are capable of competing for the title."

Montpellier resume Ligue 1 action on Wednesday when they host Evian.
