Angers trial Cameroon Under-17 international Lionel Messi
The modest French club are making headlines after inviting an African player who shares the name with the three-time Ballon d'Or winner to win a spot on the team
Ligue 2 club Angers have announced that they have handed a trial to Cameroonian youngster Lionel Messi.Messi, an Under-17 international for his country, was one of the 12 footballers who will be on trial at Angers after the French club opened their doors and gave an opportunity to young talents born in 1995 and 1996.
Not much is known about this player, who was born in 1995, when his world-renowned Barcelona namesake was seven or eight years old, but he will have the chance to earn a place at the Ligue 2 outfit should he manage to impress.
Angers lie in 15th position in the Ligue 2 standings, four points above the relegation zone.
