France Football Federation confirm that national coach Laurent Blanc will not get a contract extension before Euro 2012

The France Football Federation (FFF) have confirmed that they will not extend Laurent Blanc’s contract as national coach before Euro 2012. 

The 46-year-old has improved the nation’s fortunes since taking charge in 2010, and his current deal is set to expire just after the European championships.

However, FFF president Noel La Graet has admitted that the governing body are waiting to see how the side is going to perform in Poland and Ukraine before discussing the trainer’s contract. 

"I think it's healthier that way," he told L’Equipe.

"We must go as far as possible at the Euros, but mostly we must get through the group. 

"Managing a group in a competition is difficult. The France team must do better sporting-wise. The time has come to win," he concluded.

The decision may well cause yet another rift in the national side as Blanc stated back in October that if he is to stay on in his current role in the long term, he would require an extension before the European Championships.
