Newly crowned Ligue 1 Player of the Year urged to stay on with Lille for a crack at the Champions LeagueEden Hazard has been advised by French World Cup-winning striker Christophe Dugarry to spend at least one more year with Lille.
Inter are said to be at the forefront of the long list of clubs trying to court the youngster, who has just capped another stellar year with the French champions, but Dugarry is not convinced the 20-year-old is ready to move on just yet.
"Hazard is still immature and is just a kid, I would advise him to stay on longer in Lille and gain Champions League experience," the World Cup winner said, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The former Marseille and Bordeaux attacker, who now makes a living as a football commentator, compared Hazard to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who struggled to adapt to life in the Spanish capital initially.
Benzema has since recovered to become a valuable player at Santiago Bernabeu, and Dugarry is unsure if Hazard has a similarly strong mental resolve, adding: "[Eden Hazard is] not ready for a big club where, when you're under the fire of criticism, you have to question yourself and get out. Nobody can help you if you're not yourself.
"This mentality I think is missing in Eden."
