Paris Saint Germain have quashed speculation linking them with a summer move for Saint Etienne forward Dimitri Payet after missing out on him in January.
The 24-year-old Frenchman was close to joining the capital-based club during the winter transfer window, but negotiations collapsed.
Rumours began to resurface over the weekend that he was destined for PSG after he was seen at the Parc des Princes as the home side beat Lyon 1-0.
However the club have moved quickly to play down suggestions he was there for talks ahead of developments later this year.
A statement released by PSG reads:
"The presence of the player from AS Saint-Etienne at the Parc de Princes is nothing more than a personal initiative on his part. The club denies there was a meeting between Alain Roche [director of sport] and Payet."
Saint Etienne are currently sixth in Ligue 1 following their 2-1 win over Nancy in which Payet scored both goals.
