thumbnail Hello,

German powerhouse Bayern Munich are the latest team to have joined the list of admirers of promising Racing club de Lens defender Raphael Varane.

Highly-rated youngster Raphael Varane could be on his way out of Ligue 1 side Racing club de Lens at the end of the season as German giants Bayern Munich have taken an interest in the defender, La Voix de Sport reports.

The Bavarians have been very vulnerable at the back this season and are desperate to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer window.

They have already been linked with a number of high profile names, but sporting director Christian Nerlinger is also closely monitoring the progress of the 17-year-old Varane.

Varane is a product of the Lens youth academy and made his official debut in November 2010. The France under-21 starlet has since made several more appearances and his impressive rise to prominence hasn't gone unnoticed at the German giants.

The centre-back has previously been linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, but Bayern now appear to be sitting in pole position to secure his services.
