A dreadful mistake from Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Apoula Edel on Sunday prevented les Parisiens picking up maximum points against Olympique Lyonnais, but defender Sylvain Armand has publically forgiven the Armenian international.
There were only a matter of minutes remaining when Apoula dreadfully miscued a kick from hand, sending the ball straight to the grateful Bafetimbi Gomis, who lashed an equaliser beyond the goalkeeper. At that stage, PSG were leading 2-1 against 10 men and had seemed set to claim maximum points.
“Edel has made a small blunder, but it happens to everyone,” Armand told RMC. “We will support him because he has helped us as well since the start of the season. We remain positive. We must continue to work and learn from those mistakes.”
The Cameroon-born goalkeeper has had an eventful campaign since winning the faith of coach Antoine Kombouare. He has been involved in passport controversy, but he also kept seven successive clean sheets in the autumn.
