Laurent Blanc’s French revolution is continuing at pace, with the deadwood from the World Cup largely axed prior to Wednesday’s friendly encounter against England.
‘Le President’ has included a number of players with very little international experience in his side, which very definitely has more than a hint of youth about it. The clash at Wembley will therefore be as much about how his players can gel and handle the big stage as it will be about the result.
There are a host of players absent for les Bleus, including captain during the trip to South Africa, Patrice Evra, who is suspended, and Franck Ribery, who is injured.
Of the initial panel called by Blanc, Philippe Mexes is doubtful and Tottenham Hotspur’s Younes Kaboul has been summoned should the Roma man fail to feature.
Here is the squad available to Blanc for the midweek clash:
Goalkeepers: Carrasso, Lloris, Mandanda
Defenders: Abidal, Clichy, Kaboul, Mexes, Rami, Reveillere, Sagna, Sakho
Midfielders: Cabaye, A. Diarra, Gourcuff, Mvila, Malouda, Nasri
Attackers: Benzema, Gameiro, Hoarau, Payet, Remy, Valbuena
