Gregory Tafforeau believes that former club Lille are the best side in Le Championnat.
The defender, who formerly played for LOSC before transferring to les Malherbes a year ago, believes that the weekend’s visitors have massive potential.
“Four or five years ago Caen and Lille were very similar clubs in terms of atmosphere and infrastructure,” he explained, according to Ligue 1’s official website. “Now they are completely different. Lille is now structured like a major European club. They’re strong in all areas. They can adapt their game to that of their opponents. At this point in time, they are better than Marseille and Lyon and, in my opinion, they are the best team in Ligue 1.”
Meanwhile, LOSC boss Rudi Garcia is looking for an improvement from his team, who sit fifth in the standings.
“We are conceding too many goals and are having to chase games,” he said. “We need to be more solid, especially when we are not at our best physically. We need to defend as a team and afford our opponents less space. We need to correct that away from home, if possible at Caen. We’ve played eight games in 25 days and that means I cannot put the same side out every game, which also explains a lack of cohesion.”
Les Dogues have a full squad for this encounter, while Tafforeau is missing for Caen due to injury. Sambou Yatabare also misses out for the hosts; he is banned.
