France Football Federation Uphold Five-Match International Ban For Manchester United's Patrice Evra
Bad news for World Cup 2010 skipper...
By Matt Monaghan
Evra, 29, was handed the punishment after Les Blues' 23-man World Cup 2010 squad went on strike after Nicolas Anelka's banishment. As skipper, he was believed to have played a key role in the action and was censored accordingly.
The left-back appeared in person in Paris today to attempt to overturn the suspension. However, a statement on the FFF's official website has revealed Evra's attempts have been in vain.
It read: "The Appeals High Commission, which met today [Thursday] to consider the appeal by the player Patrice Evra, has decided to confirm the five-match sanction for non-selection by Team France."
