A storm is brewing between Bordeaux and France due to the dual interests of Nicolas de Tavernost.Nicolas de Tavernost, who oversees Ligue 1 club Girondins de Bordeaux, has been heavily critical of the FFF (French FA) for their handling of national coach Laurent Blanc after France’s midweek win over Bosnia.
De Tavernost is also president of television station M6, part of the company which own les Marine et Blanc and who showed the international in midweek, yet the channel wasn’t granted an interview with Blanc after the fixture as they had stated their refusal to show a panel of sponsors during any prospective post-match discussion with the coach.
“Laurent Blanc is now head of the France team thanks to the openness and flexibility of Girondins de Bordeaux, who are property of the M6 Group,” De Tavernost raged in an open letter, complaining that the FFF’s actions had “seriously disrupted the second half of the 2010 season” for the club.
“Initially, they agreed, before refusing because they had sold exclusive rights to other brands,” De Tavernost raged.
Clearly this dispute will fray relations between les Girondins and the FFF, though serious long lasting repercussions are unlikely for the club at least.
