Jean Tigana: Olympique Lyonnais’ Yoann Gourcuff Disrespected Girondins De Bordeaux
The manner in which Yoann Gourcuff left Bordeaux for Lyon lacked class, Jean Tigana has argued.

The manner of Yoann Gourcuff’s departure from Girondins de Bordeaux to Olympique Lyonnais continues to rankle with les Marine et Blanc coach Jean Tigana, and he has once again made his feelings public on the matter.
Gourcuff elected to tell the midfield great that he wanted to leave the club just hours before an important Ligue 1 meeting against Paris Saint-Germain, leading to the young France international playmaker being cut to the bench for that fixture, which was subsequently won 2-1 by les Girondins. Nevertheless, the player’s attitude continues to hurt Tigana.
“The way it happened I was upset,” the coach explained to his side’s official website. “I’ve already said that. Coming on the Saturday on the eve of an important game... We had just had two defeats and were travelling to the Parc des Princes on Sunday. For him to come and ask this on that day was a bit of a shock. It should have come on Monday. Things would have happened the same way, but it would have shown respect towards the squad and the club.”
Having been transferred for €22 million, Gourcuff has played once for OL, though he was not able to aid them to a point as les Gones crashed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lorient, whom Yoann’s dad, Christian, coaches.
