Guillaume Hoarau may have been ruled out of Tuesday’s clash between France and Bosnia-Herzegovina due to an elbow injury, but club side Paris Saint-Germain are hopeful that the forward will be fit enough to play a role in Saturday’s Ligue 1 encounter against Arles-Avignon.

The former Le Havre striker picked up his problem during Friday night’s surprising 1-0 reverse against Belarus, though he did manage to battle through the duration of the fixture as both Loic Remy and Louis Saha had to be withdrawn due to injuries. On Saturday, however, came the news that the 26-year-old’s knock would be too serious to allow him to travel to play in Sarajevo.

PSG are hopeful that the Reunion-born forward will be able to play at the Parc des Princes against Arles on Saturday evening. With two goals already to his credit in Ligue 1 this term, the striker has started on a positive footing to put last season’s injury worries behind him. Indeed, he was voted les Parisiens’ Player of the Month for August.

Olympique Lyonnais’ Jimmy Briand has been called into les Bleus squad partly to compensate for the absence of Hoarau.
