Lorient have announced the signing of young defender Lamine Kone from Chateauroux via their official website.
Having allowed Benjamin Genton to leave for Ligue 2 outfit Le Havre, coach Christian Gourcuff felt that more cover was required in defence and promptly moved for the 21-year-old, who participated in the prestigious Toulon Tournament this summer.
Les Merlus’ official website notes that Kone has signed a four-year contract with the Stade du Moustoir outfit, where he will compete for a starting berth alongside Gregory Bourillon and Bruno Ecuele-Manga in the heart of a defence that has lost impressive starters Laurent Koscielny and Sylvain Marchal over the summer.
The Paris-born player turned professional with Chateauroux in the 2006-07 season and has grown in stature in every campaign since. Over the course of the last term, he established himself as a regular in la Berrichon’s defence, playing 26 league matches and scoring three goals in the process.
