Olympique Marseille Coach Didier Deschamps Thanks Tunisia For Welcome Support
OM were pleased to be so impressively backed in North Africa...

In the wake of Olympique Marseille’s victory on penalty kicks against Paris Saint-Germain in the Trophee des Champions, head coach Didier Deschamps has thanked Tunisia for being so hospitable to the side.
A large portion of the massive crowd that turned out at the Stade 7 Novembre got behind les Phoceens, thanks partly to the ancestry of wing star Hatem Ben Arfa. The fans watched an even scoreless encounter that was ultimately won by OM 5-4 on penalty kicks.
“It was great to have the large majority of the stadium supporting OM, even if that was what we were expecting,” Deschamps explained after the game, according to Ligue 1’s official website. “Marseille is a cosmopolitan city which is much appreciated and followed abroad.
"It was a tight game with good intentions from both sides but no goals because there were two good goalkeepers on display. Our attacking absentees like [Mamadou] Niang and Brandao handicapped us, but those who played, in particular [Mamadou] Samassa, played well and showed their quality. It's good to have won the shootout. The important thing now is for OM to keep winning!”
Edouard Cisse echoed the comments of his coach, joking: “The stadium was behind us thanks to Hatem Ben Arfa as all his family was there! We're happy because we've won a trophy.”
Marseille’s Ligue 1 campaign begins a week on Saturday, when they host newly promoted Caen.
