Lille Have Accepted €20 Million Spartak Moscow Bid For Gervinho - Report
After a year to remember, Gervinho could be heading east...
By Robin Bairner
Gervinho’s possible departure from Lille took an unexpected twist on Friday morning, when France Football reported that les Dogues had accepted an approach for the exciting winger from Spartak Moscow.
Liverpool and Malaga have previously been credited with an interest in the Cote d’Ivoire World Cup star, though this is the first time the outfit from the Russian Premier League have been associated with the 23-year-old attacker. And it has been suggested that their interest is very strong indeed, so much so that they have tabled a bid worth €20 million for the former Le Mans player, who has hinted he may be ready to move on in the right circumstances. The report states that the approach has been accepted by LOSC.
Signed last summer from MUC for a fee of €8m, Gervinho’s potential has been realised over the course of the last 12 months at the Stade Lille-Metropole. The speedy dribbler played a major role in leading Lille to Europe this season, scoring 13 goals in 32 Championnat encounters, which was a personal best for the ex-Beveren man.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Inter may yet offer alternatives to the slick winger, but it is the Russians who appear to be in the driving seat for Gervinho’s signature at present.
