After a somewhat drawn out saga, Loic Remy will remain with Nice until the end of the season and has indicated that he's not concerned that a potential move to Stade Rennais fell through.

Rennes led the chase to snaffle the young forward, allegedly bidding €15 million plus the services of at least one additional player in order to draw an acceptance of the proposal from les Aiglons. Olympique Lyonnais, meanwhile, have a buy back clause on the player but failed to match the offer tabled by the Bretons.

“The terms of Lyon’s offer did not match those of Rennes, so we did not accept it,” Nice president Gilbert Stellardo told the AFP news agency. “Lyon used their right of first refusal. OL had all the power and there were three possibilities open: either OL would accept the deal proposed by Rennes, he was transferred to Rennes, or we had to accept that it does not take place, and that’s what happened.”

Remy is unconcerned by these happenings. “It’s ok, I’ll stay in Nice,” he said. “I will be training on Tuesday. I am not disappointed. This has lasted too long.”

The former OL youth has been les Aiglons’ top performer over the course of the first half of the season, scoring for the struggling side seven times. He limped off in some discomfort during their 3-2 derby loss to Monaco last weekend.
