Loic Remy has promised to see out the remainder of this campaign with Ligue 1 strugglers Nice, according to a report in local paper Nice-Matin published on Tuesday.

The former Olympique Lyonnais forward was left furious after being spat at by his club’s own fans following les Aiglons’ 1-0 defeat at home to Auxerre last Wednesday evening. “I wet my shirt for people who spit at me; it’s unacceptable,” he blazed to radio station RTL. “If I am to be spat upon, I will consider leaving the club before the end of the transfer window.”

Six days later, he appears to have come to the conclusion that a stay on France’s Mediterranean coast is the best decision for the time being, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Girondins de Bordeaux.

“I have no reason to leave, I'll finish the season with Nice,” he explained on Tuesday. “I never said I wanted to leave. I am in Nice and I'm concentrating on what I have to do, which is to score goals.”

Remy must be considered a good outside bet to make France’s World Cup squad as he has frequently been involved in the plans of national coach Raymond Domenech. He has seven goals to his name in 20 league starts.
