Marseille Coach Didier Deschamps Not Interested In Monaco’s Nene But Linked With Five Players

It seems inevitable that OM will strengthen their squad this winter as 'DD' has been linked with a whole plethora of stars...

Ligue 1 : Didier Deschamps (Olympique de Marseille)
There is little more than a week before the opening of the winter transfer window and rumours regarding Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille are growing in frequency, with head coach Didier Deschamps rejecting rumours linking the club to Monaco winger Nene.

Deschamps explained to Mercato365: “I am absolutely not chasing Nene. It’s not because he’s not a good player, but because a player of his profile is not being sought. You know as well as I the difference between the news and reality.”

While links to the Monaco ace, who is leading Ligue 1’s goal scoring charts at present, seem to have been broken, there are whispers emerging linking the Provence club to a number of other Ligue 1 talents.

Le Parisien has associated Nancy’s Moroccan forward Youssouf Hadji with the club, while the same can also be said of Lorient striker Marama Vahirua, who linked so effectively last season with Fabrice Abriel, now, of course, of the Mediterranean giants. Jimmy Briand, meanwhile, is a player considered a target for OM after reports emerged last week.

But it is not only in offensive areas that Marseille will try to improve their squad. Stade Rennais defender Rod Fanni, who has been effectively employed as a right-back, is also a supposed target.

Finally, Jonathan De Guzman of Dutch outfit Feyenoord could also jump to the south of France this winter.
