Lille took all three points and climbed into the top half of Ligue 1 following a seven goal thriller against Lyon at Stadium Lille Metropole.

Despite a first half hat-trick from Lisandro Lopez and twice leading by two goals, Lyon couldn't maintain their advantage which would have sent them into second within two points of Bordeaux at the top of the table.

The 26-year-old Argentinian gave the visitors the lead after just two minutes and added a second from the penalty spot 20 minutes later after Ludovic Obraniak handled inside the area.

Lille, coming off the back of a midweek defeat to Valencia in the Europa League, responded immediately through Pierre-Alain Frau but Lyon lead 3-1 at the break as Lopez completed his hat-trick ten minutes before the the half time whistle.

The hosts were back in it eight minutes after the interval when Gervinho latched on to
Rio Mavub's through ball and fired past Hugo Loris from a tight angle.

Lille levelled midway through the half with
Yohan Cabaye converting from the spot after Mathieu Debuchy was tumbled inside the area.

With ten minutes to go the hosts could have taken the lead. Substitute Eden Hazard crossed for Gervinho but Loris made an excellent close range save from the Ivorian to keep Lyon alive.

Then in second half stoppage time the same two combined to give Lille all three points. Hazard created the danger, finding Gervinho inside the area and he lashed past Loris to snatch a memorable victory for the home side.

Lille move to tenth in the table while Lyon relinquish the opportunity to jump to second in the table and remain in fourth, five points off the leaders.
