Antoine Kombouare, head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, has indicated that it is imperative that his side attack Olympique de Marseille when the two teams meet in Friday night’s hotly anticipated Clasico at Stade Velodrome.

Last season’s encounter at the Provence venue produced a somewhat surprising 4-2 success for les Parisiens, and Kombouare is aiming for a repeat result, though he believes the only way to achieve it will be to take the game to their opponents.

“We must go there with the desire to achieve something, to create an achievement and return with three points and the victory,” he told the club’s official website. “We're attacking today and we have no choice, we must play a great match in Marseille. I strongly believe in my team.”

PSG’s form is not particularly strong, with only one Ligue 1 victory since the end of August. This record doesn’t concern the former Valenciennes coach greatly, and he believes it may actually aid his side in Friday night’s encounter.

“It's good that the players feel that it heats up a little, it is time that they move their asses, the fans are yelling. The main thing is that this is done with respect,” he reasoned.

Kombouare will have close to a complete squad to select from, only missing Guillaume Hoarau and Claude Makelele. Zoumana Camara has been named in the matchday pool for the first time this season, and the former Aberdeen defender could gamble on the centre-back.

“He’s played four [friendly] games and is now at my disposal. He is in the group but I do not know if he will play tomorrow. I have not made my decision,” the coach concluded.

The ex-Marseille man would doubtless relish the challenge of coming into the side to face his former employers.
