Paris Saint-Germain Coach Antoine Kombouare Aims For Win In Marseille
It will take a great performance for les Parisiens to claim anything from an OM side that has its weaknesses, according to Kombouare...
“It would be a wonderful gift!” the former Valenciennes coach indicated to the club’s official website, considering his 46th birthday, which he celebrated on Monday. “We primarily want to take three points because it would allow us to climb the league and would prepare us for the arrival of Auxerre in the best condition.”
Kombouare is aware of the task that awaits his side down south, having analysed Marseille’s previous game, which was a staggeringly entertaining 5-5 draw with league leaders Olympique Lyonnais.
“It will be a tense match and, hopefully, balanced,” he said. “We will face a motivated opponent.
“Marseille have a few weaknesses for us to exploit. We shall therefore take this team very seriously.
“We have seen their last game against Lyon. It was a good game during which they showed some strengths but also weaknesses. In any case, it will take a great performance from PSG to take a [positive] result from this trip.”
PSG have already journeyed down to the port city once this season, but the match was postponed late on due to a swine flu outbreak in les Parisiens’ side. On Friday they expect to boast a strong team, though Guillaume Hoarau is injured and Claude Makelele is banned.
After a poor run of form in the league in recent weeks, the Parisian side have been linked with a move for Anderlecht’s Jonathan Legear and also Valenciennes’ Johan Audel.
