Last Sunday’s postponed Clasico between Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain has been rescheduled for Friday, November 20.

The match was called off just hours before kick-off at the weekend because of swine flu in les Parisiens' camp. This led to grave doubts about when the fixture could potentially be played as OM were concerned about fixture congestion ahead of key Champions League matches. In addition, France’s World Cup qualifying encounters against the Republic of Ireland also came into question.

“This is the first possible date,” a statement from the Ligue de Football Professionel read. “It solves the problem of the deferral of this big Ligue 1 fixture.”

On exiting the meeting, Jean-Claude Dassier, president of les Phoceens simply told the press, “The date suits us.”

Meanwhile, Robin Leproux, president of PSG, didn’t pass comment.

This decision has prompted further rearrangement of the fixture calendar, however. OM were due to tackle Sochaux on Saturday, November 21, the date that PSG were due to travel to Boulogne-Sur-Mer. Both of these games have been pushed back to December 2, which was a date previously mooted for the Clasico.

However, Marseille’s tie against les Lionceaux will be moved should their Champions League fixture against Real Madrid become decisive, which looks possible at this early stage of proceedings.
