Paris Saint-Germain’s Stephane Sessegnon Ready To Impress Against Marseille

Ligue 1 : Stephane Sessegnon (Paris SG)
An oft-criticised presence on Paris Saint-Germain’s left-wing, Stephane Sessegnon says he is ready to silence his doubters with a strong performance against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday night.

The Benin international has become known for his inconsistency and his poor showings have partly contributed to a sequence of five Ligue 1 matches without a win for les Parisiens. However, he believes he is still getting used to an awkward position out on the left.

“I am not necessarily at my best,” he told France Football.

“This may be related to my position. On the left, it's hard to chain big matches together. I have been the [under-performing] image of the team for three or four matches, games in which the results have not matched.”

Despite les Parisiens’ recent poor sequence, Sessegnon doesn’t believe that the fixture against the port side – the most eagerly anticipated in France - comes at a bad time at all.

“This game is not too early, I would say it is timely,” he asserted.

Known as a fiery player, Sessegnon is a potential red card candidate at Stade Velodrome but he has promised he will not curb his style.

“If I can finish the season without a red card, so much the better,” he noted.

“But I'm not going to change the way I behave and play. I must be careful with this kind of thing because I can cause harm to the team.”

PSG’s trip to Marseille has been placed in doubt due to a flu-like virus sweeping the camp of les Parisiens. The match may yet be postponed.
