Antoine Kombouare Will Not Rush PSG Striker Guillaume Hoarau Back
Les Parisiens’ head coach is not going to take any risks over the fitness of the club’s top scorer from last season…
Antoine Kombouare, head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, has asserted that he will not push striker Guillaume Hoarau back into the Ligue 1 firing line until he is absolutely sure the lanky frontman is ready for action.
Hoarau continues to toil with an adductor injury that was picked up at the tail end of last season. A friendly game against Lorient in July saw him forced to hobble off after a matter of minutes and Kombouare does not want a repeat of such a relapse, playing the 25-year-old with his reserve team on Sunday.
“He played 90 minutes, was present on the field and won game-time,” the former Valenciennes coach explained to the club’s official website. “He’s not played a [first team] match in its entirety for over three months, so we must take our time with him and ensure that he does not relapse. He is on track, but we must remain vigilant. We’ll see if he’s ready for Saturday according to the work he does this week.”
Hoarau has been training normally with the club since last week and took part in a productive training session on Tuesday, in which Mateja Kezman proved to be the star.
There was no Claude Makelele, however, as he is carrying a knock. Regarding his captain’s participation, Kombouare told L’Equipe that the veteran will play “no problem”.
